Telmo descent in Cameron Highlands, Pahang state
Pahang is home to one of the world's most famous river rafting races. The Telmo Descent is an international race that takes place over two days and has a length of 54 km. The first stage of the race consists of rafting through the powerful rapids, which range in intensity between three different levels.
The starting point is from the village of Tayat, as the race passes through one of the most spectacular tropical forests in Malaysia. The race also passes through many villages inhabited by indigenous people, or what is known as (the original orange). In the second leg of the race, competitors paddle for a distance of 32 km through the calm waters of the river. The contestants are also required to catch fish in a quiet Malay village on the bank of the Gilai River.
